Hi everyone,
I came across this interesting statement while reading this article "Teachers' pedagogies and their impact on students' mathematical problem solving" by Kai Fai Ho & John G Hedberg. They shared that "...in any curriculum changes, the success of the curriculum depends on the Teachers. One cannot talk about of the national curriculum for it depends upon individual teachers, their methods and understanding, and their interpretation of aims, guidelines, texts etc. The part played by the individual teachers must therefore be recognized."
Upon reading this, it daunt on me on how our teachers are managing in coping with the mathematical problem solving approach in the teaching of mathematics. Most of the programmes and initiatives that we have aimed to achieve this goal but it is also important to take stock on how our teachers are managing them.
For this term's reflection, I would like to hear your feedback, concerns or commendations on programmes and initiatives that we have currently. Their impact on students' learning and also on teachers' belief. We hope that through these dialogues, we can further review our approaches in order to make the learning and teaching of mathematics in PYSS more meaningful and impactful.
